Millie Bobby Brown Faces Backlash Over Awkward $200 Photo With Disabled Fan

Millie Bobby Brown is facing backlash after a photo with a disabled fan went viral for all the wrong reasons. The Stranger Things star, known for her devoted fanbase, is being criticized after an awkward meet-and-greet moment left many questioning whether the $200 price tag was worth it. Social media users were quick to slam the interaction, calling it “cold” and “uncomfortable.” So, what exactly happened? Here’s a closer look at the controversy.

Since its posting, the tweet has amassed over 18.5 million views, garnering more than 80,000 likes and 400 comments.

One fan questioned, “Did someone superglue her to the stool or what? She could’ve easily stood up and gotten closer to her fan for the photo.

Another user dismissed the interaction, saying, “People pay good money for these meet & greets and get this… tragic,” with India Times reporting that the fan had spent $200.

A third commenter added, “Even if she couldn’t hug her, she could have at least stood up and moved closer.

Fear I can’t defend her on this one,” another netizen admitted.

“She wanted no part in that picture,” one person speculated.

Another commenter expressed frustration, saying, “Knowing all the accommodations someone in a wheelchair has to make to navigate public spaces and travel… the bare minimum was to get her –ss up and stand closer to her fan (who also paid a fcking lot to meet her).”

“The way this could’ve been a wholesome moment, but instead, it’s just awkward,” another reply read.

“Not trying to hate, but imagine paying €200, probably traveling far, and being in a wheelchair—only for her to not even stand up, lean in, or do anything to make the picture special,” one user pointed out. “That’s just disrespectful. If you’re at a con, engage with the fans paying to see you, or don’t go.”

People weren’t impressed with the way Millie positioned herself.

“Couldn’t she stand up and hug her or something? Um?” one user, @sevenflings, questioned in a tweet on February 7, 2025, alongside the photo.

However, others were quick to defend the newly married actress, pointing out that a single picture doesn’t tell the whole story.

“It might be a sensory thing,” one person suggested, referring to the fan in the wheelchair. “She might not be comfortable being touched but still wanted a picture. Idk what condition she has, but I went to school with a few kids who had severe sensory issues with being touched, even by their parents.”

Another supporter added, “Maybe both of them were comfortable with this, and that’s what really matters.”

One fan fired back, “Why don’t you worry about your own physical boundaries and let her worry about hers?

Y’all have a problem with everything 🙃🙃🙃,” another netizen complained.

“If you were so worried about the girl, here’s the end of the story,” one account shared. “She loved meeting her and never complained about anything—now you don’t need to take on other people’s pain!”

Millie started her acting career at just 9 years old.

Millie Bobby Brown began her acting career in 2013 with her debut role in the ABC fantasy drama Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. While she continued to take on various projects, it was Stranger Things, which premiered in the summer of 2016, that catapulted her to stardom.

Since then, she has starred in major films such as Enola Holmes (alongside Henry Cavill and Sam Claflin), Damsel, Enola Holmes 2, and Godzilla vs. Kong. Beyond acting, she has also ventured into entrepreneurship, launching her own fashion and beauty brand, Florence by Mills.

The highly anticipated fifth and final season of Stranger Things is set to premiere on Netflix later this year, and fans are eager to see how the beloved sci-fi series concludes.

Opinions were split, with some criticizing the interaction while others defended Millie.
